To avoid double-spending, every cryptocurrency transaction must go through a confirmation process. After the sender transfers the funds, the transaction is sent to the network and waits to be included in a block. A transaction is confirmed the moment it is added to a block. Each subsequent block added to the blockchain is considered another confirmation.
