Number of network confirmations
To avoid double-spending, each cryptocurrency transaction must go through a confirmation process. After the sender transfers the funds, the transaction is broadcast to the network and waits to be included in a block. The confirmation of the transaction occurs when it is added to a block. Each subsequent block added to the blockchain is considered another confirmation. Once a transaction has enough confirmations, it is considered successful and the funds are credited to the balance.
The speed of transaction confirmation depends on network congestion, transfer fee size, and internet connection speed. On average, the confirmation process takes between 30 minutes to several hours. In some cases, when the network is congested, confirmation may take more than 2-14 days.
